Breeding--
I have been told many different things--what does AKC consider to be the appropriate age for a male to breed or stud out, and the same for a female, at what age is good to breed your Cavalier?

Comment by Lori Walker on January 20, 2010 at 5:18pm - From what I have learned from research is that the female should be no younger than 2 years old. The male should be at least 1 year, and ideally over 18 months. I recommend these ages as well because you cannot get them heart certified under 1.5 years old anyway, and I wouldn't breed until you had them checked at least on a preliminary basis. I understand its frustrating to get advice from others, I am in the process of breeding my first litter right now and I am a nervous wreck! Good Luck to you.
