- Cavalier puppies love to chew, some pick particular things to chew, some will chew things that belong to their most beloved (the ones they bond to) most outgrow it, but it lasts well beyond the teething stage. I have one three year old girl that still gets the bug to chew socks and underwear although she doesn't go for it all the time like she did when younger. The worst of it is that they do not know that these things will hurt them. Sharp objects can puncture the intestine or bulky things create a blockage, deadly situations if not caught quickly.
