About Bob

I am a marketing product manager for a software and publications company. In addition I build, host and manage websites for breeders and many types of business websites through my ComputerPages.net service.

Lyn and I acquired our first cavalier, a Tri we named Sir Oliver, from Toni Wade in 1998. A few months later at a BACKCSC fun match Joanne Nash suggested we join the fun and take our Cavalier into the ring. Lyn and Oliver were hooked and we moved from simply pet owners to Cavalier enthusiasts, handlers and then Cavalier breeders. Lyn now runs Lyncrest Cavaliers and Just Like Home Dog Boarding full time. Me, I am still doing web sites and working as the kennel help.

Posting Events to the Network

Elizabeth asked about posting events on the network calendar. All members may post events on The Cavalier Network Calendar. A summary of the events shows near the bottom of the main Home page, just above the Groups section. To post or manage events click on the Events Tab. On the Events page on the right just under the tab bar is a + Add Event link.

I would love to see all the local clubs and any Cavalier groups post meetings, events, health clinics, fun days and other activities. To…

The Cavalier Wag Newsletter from BACKCSC May 2010 Issue

I just finished reading the latest issue of The Cavalier Wag newsletter from the Bay Area CKCS Club. It is a great issue with 2 health issues and much more. My thanks go out to the hard working editor, Jan Rowley. There is a link to the newsletter on the www.BACKCSC.com website. I think you will enjoy reading the newsletter also.

What can I do on this site?

From time to time I get asked what members can do on this site. I think the best description of the site is that it is a communications community, a virtual Cavalier convention. In addition there are sub communities (Group) that allow communication within a targeted group of members. Here are some key features:

* Private Mail - the site messaging feature lets you send private messages to other members. It is like using email without the need for email addresses.

* Post,… Continue

What next for the Cavalier Network

Jayne posted a comment where she asked:

"Bob, We have all these great people. What are we waiting for. Where do we go from here. What do we do with all this information and how do we benefit from it."

This is a wonderful question. I think it deserves group input and discussion so I am creating this blog answer.

My hope is the network continues to grow to become a single stop resource for Cavalier owners. From time to time I have received suggestions to contact so-in-so at… Continue

The idea behind starting this site

I have only been involved with Cavaliers for 10 years and have really come to appreciate all the help others have offered as Lyn and I learn about the breed. This has included help with their care, conformation shows and breeding. We could not have done it without the help of other Cavalier fanciers.

As a way to try and say thank you we have helped on many local Cavalier functions. I have also used my web site knowledge to help when ever possible.

Recently I found this… Continue

Hi Bob,
You have some beautiful dogs. I live in Australia, and have both the Tri, & Blenheim colour. What I have noticed here, and I can see has crept in over there, is the colouring of the Tri Cavalier. It has sad to see so many black blanket backs on the Tri. As it states in the correct colouring rule, the tri colour should be well broken up. I was fortunate enough to buy one like this, but over here they seem more difficult to obtain.

Hi Bob!
I wasn't sure that this site was from you or a common namesake. I don't know if you remember us, but I act as a moderator for Oregon Trail. Things have been crazy as both of my in-laws and my mother have required surgery and much care. That's why I haven't been able to attend any OTCKCS club events. I wanted to let you know that Verizon has sold to Frontier Communications, and Tom decided since we had to change our emails anyway to go with gmail. So now my email address is: paint4paws@gmail.com
I don't know if you could update my info for the OTCKCS club site also? Thanks, Sharon Strong Carmichael.

Yes, it is a white Cavalier. The parents are both Blenheim. It is apparently a missing chromosome that caused the color. More details are available from Dawn Lindemaier at Legacy Cavaliers, http://www.legacycavaliers.net. Dawn says that the last white Cavalier was in 1934.
