I began visiting our local rehabilitation centre about 3 months ago, with Freddie and Lucy. I did this through my local council. The centre I visit caters for residents who on the whole have had a bad accident, and in the majority of the cases, have affected them mentally. Some are unable to talk. But the majority do smile, then you know they are enjoying the visit. There are about 6 different residents I visit with my dogs. At the beginning they were a little apprehensive, but each week they have gotten used to the big building, and the unknown people. I would recommend it to everyone with a bit of time on their hands. It is such a small price to pay, when you can bring so much

I began 'formal' pet therapy 6 years ago with Hannah. Now she is almost ready to retire and I have Mr. Porter certified. We visit nursing homes, a school for handicapped children and a camp (annually) for children in the foster care system. Have now added the Senior Center. I need more dogs!

Hello!

I also perform AAT (through Delta Socierty) with my furkids! We primarily do regular "hospital work" to various units in a couple of local hospitals, with additional visits to Senior Centers, Alzheimers Units, etc. over the holidays.

We look forward to the experience shared, knowledge gained and friends made through this forum!

Welcome to all of you guys!
Warmly,
Christine

HI everyone -

I just joined this list. How much fun. I currently have only one dog working, although there was a time I had six! We're taking off the summer so Fiera can raise her puppies, and since we work in a Public School Special Needs Classroom, this works fine for everyone. So you all have a great summer, as we plan to!

Bonnie and I have been doing pet assisted therapy for 4 years, now. We have visited assisted living facilities, a hospital, the county jail, the district attorney's offfice (sitting with victims and/or witnesses prior to Grand Jury testimony), children's center, and theREAD program.
She and I are retiring, but still plan to visit various facilities on our own, without Delta affiliation.
