AZ Cavalier Rescue was started by a group of foster moms who were involved with one of the national rescue groups and decided it would be more beneficial to the Cavaliers by starting a local Cavalier Rescue. We are also supporters of and will foster Cavaliers for Lucky Star Cavalier Rescue, Cavalier Rescue USA and any other local rescue who needs help with a Cavalier.

We too have had numerous successful placements, and joining Petfinder has brought more adopters to us. We currently have 1 boy who has a bite history and after a month of foster, bit his foster mom twice. We could not figure him out and finally consulted a dog psycic to help. It has helped tremendously and we now know we cannot grab him around the head. He has been moved to my house and is a complete love, but no Im not ready to grab his head to see if hes over his traumatic behavior from the bratty kids he lived with for 7 hears. .

We are currently working on obtaining our 501c3. I'm sure there are a ton of benefits tax wise for the rescue to do this but by becoming 501c3 it provides those who donate to us to claim the donation on their taxes. Thus we hope to bring in more donations as time progresses.

The biggest liability is insurance to cover any lawsuit that might arise from a Cavalier that has a bite history. Even if you have them sign a release of liability at least out here they are free to still file suit against you. At this time we are looking into several companies who provide this type of insurance.

I am with Mid-Florida CKCS Club rescue. We are not currently 501c3 and would like to know more about the liability involved and the impact it would have on the club as a whole.

We have had several wonderful successful placements. The most rewarding ones involve saving dog's with aggressive behavior issues that might have been cause to put the dog down. We have had a behaviorist help us with two. In another case, a dog was exhibiting aggression because of pain from a spinal problem that had not been previously diagnosed.

We also have a girl that had severe SM. Her story is nothing short of a miracle network that came together to save her life. Her operation is a success and will be written in medical journals. We are hoping to have the doctor that performed the operation speak at an ACKCSC specialty about the new material he used for her in the near future. I will make an announcement when we have a solid commitment.
