Try a rawhide but only with supervision. The two I have both nipped while very young, not aggressively, but "puppy play"---socks, shoes, rugs, towels, anything w/in reach! This site is helpful with obeidience too. You gotta train or they will train you!! Both of mine eventually got out of it as they matured, but I just kept offering a toy and took away what they were biting on instead of letting them continue to knaw on it---that is whenever you catch them! My 9 mth old male, can still try, but only when he is bored! Put it this way, he knows what NO! means. We laugh now, but for the first 6 mths., it seems that every other word out of our mouth was NO, Beau! I was almost sorry I named him that! But don't loose hope, it gets better if you don't give up!

Thanks so much! It makes me feel better to know that it's not just Prissy! She has 3 rawhides, but they must not be as tasty as everything else!

All you need to do is withdraw attention (especially eye contact), look away. When your puppy stops bitting, reward them by giving attention. Reward the behavors you want, ignore the ones you don't want. Cavaliers are too sensitive a breed to be diciplined.

Don't discipline, they will pout, look at you with these gorgeous eyes, then, pay no attention to you! Ignore what you don't like, praise what you do and shower them with love and durable nylabones. They're the best! They love to "teeth," or "mouth," as it is frequently called. With your consistent reaction to the biting, it will diminish with age.

Congratulations on your new addition!
I didn't really have a chewing problem with my Lucy but when I took her to training a lady in our group did.
He suggested that whenever a puppy starts chewing put a toy in front of the dog. This shows that this is what you are to chew on, not me! Also, don't have too many toys. If confuses the pup and makes them to think everything is a toy.
Cavaliers are such sweeties though, only a few stern No's should do the trick!
